The watch comes in a new presentation box. If viewed through a magnifying loupe then there are two short very faint hairlines. The dial looks very good to the naked eye with original blued steel hands, including the special half hunter hour hand so the time can be read when the front cover is closed. Inside there is an acrylic lens which is in good condition. The winding crown pushes in to open the front cover. The case is in very nice condition and it has engine turned detail to both the front and back of the watch. The case is silver and there are hallmarks inside for Birmingham 1936 with a case maker's mark for Aaron Dennison, the Dennison Watch Case Company manufactured cases for various watch makers. The watch measures 52mm diameter excluding the winding stem and the loop. The movement is protected by an inner hinged cover which has an inscription, 'Presented to F Cornaby by his colleagues of the Goswell Road branch'. The movement is stamped REF 968 which would usually indicate a Cyma / Tavannes movement but we cannot find any record of this calibre. The plates are nicely patterned with Geneva stripes and gold jewel settings. The watch has a good quality 17-jewel (four adjustments) pocket watch movement which is working nicely. Antique silver Stockmar half hunter pocket watch. ![]()
